Graduating Seniors and Their Parents
Congratulations to the high school 2022 graduates! You have worked hard over the years with one goal in mind, getting into a good college or university. Now that your acceptance and graduation celebrations have ended, it is time to consider how to approach your college experience. University will provide you with expansive topics to study, the opportunity to establish new relationships with your peers and mentors, and provide you with the skills you will need the next time you graduate. For insights into how to successfully navigate this new educational experience, please consider attending Pillars for a Successful Freshman Year. Leading this session and providing insights from several decades of advising undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania will be Dr. Scott Romeika and January Stayton Wuerth.
Scott Romeika is a psychologist and consultant who specializes in working with college students, grad students, and early career adults looking to develop resilience and purpose. He also co-developed and co-teaches the first-year undergraduate course on leadership and teamwork at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Previously, Scott worked in academic affairs and advising at Wharton for 16 years. He understands the challenges and opportunities that college students face, and enjoys helping them transform and flourish.
January Stayton Wuerth is the founder of University Life Coaching. As a Student Success Coach, she works with college students to maximize their university experience through one on one meetings focused on academic and career goals. Once goals are identified, January aids students in developing an action plan to achieve their goals, providing support along the way ensuring they have the confidence and resilience necessary to be successful in their future endeavors. Prior to establishing University Life Coaching, January worked at the University of Pennsylvania for 16 years as the Administrative Director of the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology and as an Overseas Program Manager at Penn Abroad.
