(Y) Haddon Teen Book Club - The Hazel Wood

(Ages 13 and up) Join other teens to discuss The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert.  Snacks served.  Registration required.

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert is a strange but attractive hybrid of Alice in Wonderland and Black Mirror with a touch of horror. Albert does a wonderful job with not only her prose but her characters and the vibrantly creepy world of the Hinterland. Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get.

(Y)Doodle with a Dog

Ages 13 - 18 Join us for a morning of creativity as we welcome our extraordinary guest model, Roxie! Roxie, the retired racing Greyhound, has left her tire marks on the racetracks of Daytona, Florida, having sprinted through 40 heart-pounding races! But that’s not all—this sleek and graceful canine has also been a therapy dog extraordinaire for nearly 3 incredible years!

As Roxie approaches her 300th therapy visit, she brings with her a palette of compassion, a canvas of comfort, and a brushstroke of joy. Whether she’s lending an empathetic ear to someone in need or simply brightening up a room with her wagging tail, Roxie’s presence is like a burst of sunshine breaking through the clouds.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a first-time doodler, this morning promises to be a masterpiece of relaxation, creativity, and—of course—pawsitively delightful fun!

Registration will open two weeks before event. Space and supplies will be limited.
