Please join us for a discussion of The Cartographers by Peng Shepard. From Novelist: "When her estranged father is found dead with a seemingly worthless map hidden in his desk, cartographer Nell Young soon discovers the map is extremely valuable -- and that a mysterious collector will stop at nothing to destroy it and anyone who gets in the way." Available as a physical book, audiobook on CD, or e-audiobook through hoopla. 

 South County Book Club meets every six weeks and reads a variety of fantasy, gothic, sci-fi, and horror titles.

🎲Teen Volunteer Ages 14–17

Love board games? Share your passion while earning volunteer hours in a fun, family-friendly environment! Join us for an afternoon of play, laughter, and connection as you help young children and their families discover the joy of board games.

🕒 Schedule

  • Arrival & Setup: 2:15 PM

  • Program Time: 2:30–4:30 PM

  • Cleanup: Stay until 4:45 PM to help put away game sets

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Engage with families and young children through board games

  • Help set up and organize game stations

  • Share your favorite family-friendly game (optional—bring one you love!)

  • Assist with cleanup and ensure all games are returned in good condition

📌 Important Info

  • Registration is required; space is limited

  • Do not use your school email when registering

  • The librarian will email you the day before to confirm your volunteer commitment

  • Volunteer spots are in high demand—no-shows may be blocked from future opportunities

(A) Book Tasting Club

Not sure what to read next? "Sample" 12 books of all genres at our book tasting and you may find your next favorite author or series.  Participants will have four minutes to read each book (you can choose to read from the beginning, middle, or end!)  and record their initial impressions. Brief discussion will follow. 

Book Tasting is held on the third Wednesday of every month. Please feel free to bring a snack with you.
