(A) Driving While Black: The Green Book Locations of Lawnside and Berlin, NJ

The Green Book was an annual guidebook first published in 1936 that helped African Americans safely navigate the roads of a segregated country. The guide identified services and places relatively friendly to African Americans so they could find lodgings, businesses, and gas stations that would serve them along the road.
