(A) Sewing Machines 101: DIY Scrunchies

Have you ever wanted to learn to use a sewing machine but didn’t know where to start? Come and join us at the Bellmawr library for Sewing Machines 101! In this program, patrons will learn the basics of using a sewing machine and then use their new knowledge to make their own beginner friendly scrunchie! Because supplies are limited, registration is required for this program. Registration will open on Wednesday 6/24 at 10:00 A.M., and close on Monday 7/6 at 9:00 P.M. or whenever the registration list becomes full, whichever occurs first.

Note: This same program took place in April, May, and June and will take place again in August. Please do not register for this event if you have already attended this program in April, May, or June. Because of the limited number of spaces in each of these programs, we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to attend.

Accessibility info: The library is located all on one floor. There are no steps to enter the building, and the front doors to the building are automatic. The doors into the library portion of the building can be opened with an accessible button.

(A) Drawing for Grown-Ups: How to Draw Fruit Summer Still Life

Adults. Drawing for Grown-Ups covers drawing fundamentals like line, value, form, composition, negative space, and color. Students are not required to have attended previous Drawing for Grown Ups courses. In this class, students will learn how to draw using form, color, and composition under the guidance of Jen Tracy, professional illustrator.

The goal of this workshop is to give adults the confidence they need to embrace drawing more often in their personal life. Daily drawing practices improve cognitive skills like memory, emotional regulation, and hand eye coordination. This class will focus on the basics of drawing so grown-ups can gain pride in their artistic skill. Students will make a drawing of fruit using the still life provided.
