(T) Celebrate Taino Culture and Make Your own Petroglyph with Puerto Rican Folk Artist Jenina Pellegren

Ages 9-12   Learn about the Taino, indigenous people of the Caribbean.  Explore their ancient petroglyphs (rock carvings)  found throughout the caves of South America and the Caribbean.  Puerto Rican artist Jenina Pellegren will guide you in creating a clay petroglyph with your own personal symbol.  Just as ancient petroglyph symbols give us insight into the lives of Taino people past and present, kids will express themselves in clay to create symbols that represent their own unique identities.  We will provide air-dry clay and cording should you wish to create wearable medallions.
