Join flautist, educator, and speaker Galen Abdur-Razzaq for a combined flute performance and music-infused lecture chronicling jazz from the turn of the century to the present day, highlighting jazz artists' music, influence, and struggles. Galen will illustrate how these artists advocated for the Civil Rights Movement, financing major events such as the Freedom Rides and the March on Washington in 1963 with proceeds from jazz concerts. Followed by Q&A.
