South County Book Club meets every six weeks and reads a variety of fantasy, gothic, sci-fi, and horror titles.

(A) Walking Book Discussion Meetup

Do you enjoy being outdoors? Are you reading a book that you are just dying to talk about with someone? Let me be that person! We will meet at the large Pavillion at Connolly Park located at 605 Centennial Blvd, Voorhees Township, NJ 08043. We will do between 3-5 laps on the flat paved walking circle there and talk books. No need to all read the same book in advance. Talk about whatever book you're currently reading, or a book you loved this year, or even a book that you hated. All genres are welcome. This will be a good place to get recommendations and vent plot frustrations while enjoying the outdoors.

This program is for Adults age 18 and up. Rain or shine, but the event will be cancelled if the forecast includes lightning.

Grades K-2, with a caregiver. Join Mr. Tate for a monthly book club! Each session will start with a guided discussion of that month's book, followed by a themed activity or craft, and a snack. This month's book is Doggo and Pupper by Katherine Applegate. Registration opens on August 17. After registering, you can pick up your book from the Merchantville Public Library anytime during open hours (if you would like to pick up your book from a different branch, please reach out to Mr. Tate by email). Registration is required.

Starting in September, Early Chapter Book Club will be meeting on the last Saturday of the month at 2:30pm (October's meeting will be on 10/24 due to Halloween).

(A) Community Reentry Book Club

This group is a partnership between the library and the Camden County Reentry Committee. We read and discuss books by and about individuals who have been impacted by time incarcerated in jails, prisons, or detention, as well as books about the history, politics, and geography of systems of incarceration.

This month we'll begin our discussion of Eating Behind Bars: Ending the Hidden Punishment of Food in Prison by Leslie Soble, Alex Busansky, and Aishatu R. Yusuf.
