(Y) We Read Diverse Books: Internment

Ages 14-18. We will be reading and discussing NYT Bestseller "Internment" by Samira Ahmed

"Internment sets itself apart...terrifying, thrilling and urgent."--Entertainment Weekly

Rebellions are built on hope.
Set in a horrifying near-future United States, seventeen-year-old Layla Amin and her parents are forced into an internment camp for Muslim American citizens.
With the help of newly made friends also trapped within the internment camp, her boyfriend on the outside, and an unexpected alliance, Layla begins a journey to fight for freedom, leading a revolution against the camp's Director and his guards.
Heart-racing and emotional, Internment challenges readers to fight complicit silence that exists in our society today.

We Read Diverse Books is a book club for teens [thirteen and up] who want to read stories by diverse authors whose works feature diverse main characters and address diversity in a meaningful way. We will be reading a variety of formats, including fiction, graphic novels, and non-fiction. (Note that some selections may include upsetting material; we will provide content warnings for relevant subjects.)

***Free copy of the book for the first 12 registrants. Please register with a valid email address and indicate at which branch you would like to pick up your book.***
