(Y)A Call for Teen Volunteers; Project Encouragement

Teens ages 14–17 looking to earn volunteer hours are invited to spend a meaningful and creative morning at the library! Participants will design and decorate inspirational bookmarks featuring words of encouragement and kindness.

All completed bookmarks will be donated to The BOOK ARK Program, a collaboration with The Free Books Project.

Volunteers should be prepared to spend two hours actively creating multiple bookmarks. All templates and craft supplies will be provided—just bring your creativity and a desire to make a difference!

Join us to earn service hours, express yourself through art, and help brighten someone’s day with a message of hope.

Registration is required.

Please do not use your school email.

The librarian will send a reminder email of your service commitment.

(F) Cooking Demo: Lemongrass Coconut Curry

Family program (youth of all ages with a caregiver; best suited for ages 7 and up)

Celebrate the fresh ingredients and flavors of spring! Chef Loan Nguyen will demonstrate how to prepare a vegan curry inspired by the cuisine of Vietnam using coconut milk, lemongrass, spices, and seasonal veggies.

See and smell the ingredients and spices, ask questions, learn about the dish’s origins, and sample the food. Take-home recipe and main ingredients will be available while supplies last.

Teens age 14 - 17 Are you looking for volunteer credits? Do you love to play chess? Bring your chess sets and help get a library chess group started at your library! Play chess! Interact with families! Spread the love of chess! EARN VOLUNTEER CREDITS! Registration is required and spots are limited. Do not use your school email. The librarian will email you before the event to confirm your volunteer commitment. Volunteer opportunities are in high demand. No shows may be blocked from future volunteer events.

(A) Memory Cafe

Join us at our March Memory Café and enjoy activities which celebrate Spring! Light refreshments will be served.

Memory Cafes will be held on January 22nd, February 26th, March 26th, April 23rd 2026 from 11:00am-12:00 pm.

Registration is recommended, but not required.

What is a Memory Café?

A memory café is a social gathering for those who are experiencing early-stage dementia, mild memory loss, or mild cognitive impairment, and for their families, friends, or caregivers. The Memory Café at the Gloucester Township Branch welcomes adults experiencing memory loss, particularly early-onset dementia, and their caregivers. Enjoy a safe space for socializing with light refreshments and activities like trivia, crafting, games, and gentle exercise—all designed to foster connection and enhance well-being. For participants who require a caregiver, we kindly ask that the caregiver stay for the duration of the program.
